 Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover - Performs As Advertised January 11, 2007

Purchase/Shipping:
I researched this product for several weeks both online and at local retailers. The online price was the best deal by as much as 50% less vs. what local stores wanted and they still had to order it for delivery to the store.
The standard shipping was reasonably quick and arrived in a large but easy to handle factory box. Use care if cutting open the box with a knife, as there is minimal padding to prevent cutting the cover.
Installation:
I installed it myself in about 45 minutes. The instructions were decent; reading them once or twice did the trick to understand the recommendations from the manufacturer. For my particular installation, factory under-the-rail bed liner with separate rail covers or rail caps, I simply needed to trim the bed rail covers flush with the edge of the bed. I accomplished this with a pencil to mark the position of the locking brackets and a strong utility knife to cut and score the plastic bed rails and snap off the excess with pliers. Once that was completed simply affix the included gaskets/seal around the bottom of the cover to create a seal and adjust the height of the locking brackets and your done.
Use:
The tri-fold design allows you to partially cover the bed, but your choices are a completely covered bed or 1/3 covered. There is not a way to secure the cover 2/3's of the way. In the 1/3 bed cover position the cover snaps on each side with tabs to secure it. The tabs, which are at the front or nearest the cab of the truck, stay visible all the time but after a few weeks you hardly notice them when not in use. This cover has a very study metal frame, the instruction limit the weight to approximately 200 lbs, and while I've never tested that limit, my 5 year old boy climbs on it all the time without me worrying of damaging it or him.
On the road:
Weatherproofing is pretty good. I've taken the truck through high-pressure automatic car washes and the bed stays dry. And with transporting cargo on rainy days on and off the highway I've had no problems with water getting in. The instructions do point out that it's not a waterproof installation, but I have no complaints.
At highway speeds there is some rising up of the cover in the middle to the rear, which is to be expected of the vinyl/material cover, but nothing too annoying or extreme.
Conclusion:
Over all I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend this product for permanent use. And with the ease of a one-man (or woman) fold up and removal for full use of your bed, it can't be beat.

I bought this type of cover for the first time and its a great product. Easy to install,within minutes I was good to go, and to remove, its as easy as 123. Material is tough not the cheezy type, it folds and it has 1 strap on each side to secure.Would buy again if I have to!!!

Ok, first of all, don't rely on Amazon's car filter to find the right one. They only ask for the year, make, and model of the car, they don't ask about what cab and what bed length you have. My model F-150 have several options for beds, and the one that came up from the search was for the larger one while I have the short bed.
Once you get that sorted out, this tonneau cover is definitely worth it. A lot of people like the hard tonneau covers for their security, but they cost a whole lot more, as in 5-6 times as much, and they have their own disadvantages. In terms of security, this tonneau cover is a bit better than a lot of other soft covers since it doesn't open from the top. It has to be unlatched from the inside. So that means if you lock your tailgate you can't get to the latches. Of course someone can simply cut through the cover fabric, but we all know that most criminals are opportunistic and would rather grab something from a completely uncovered bed than to actually make an effort to cut this open unless they already know you have something valuable inside.
The thing that I think makes this better than the hard covers is the ease of getting it out of the way if you have an oversized object or if you need to climb into your bed to clean your roof or whatever. The hard ones you're limited to either leaving it open to fit oversized objects, which would make your aerodynamics REALLY bad, or you can lift it off completely, but then you can't do that if you're picking something up unless you want to leave your cover somewhere to come back and get it later. Which is just really uncomfortable. The only option is to plan ahead and take it off before leaving your house.
I think if you don't NEED to have a $600 hard tonneau cover, this is the best of the soft tonneau covers out there and the price is right.
Installation took less than 5 minutes like promised, with absolutely no tools required.

Kudos to Amazon first off, had a weekend trip, planned to leave friday after work. Saw it was going to rain according to forecast so decided we needed a bed cover. 2 came up as matching my vehicle, I ordered the first one Sun night and signed up for their express shipping plan, (whatever it's called). Received it Wed and found it it was for a longer bed, printed out a return shipping label sent it back and ordered the other one, when I got home from work Fri it was waiting for me, took about 30 minutes to install, loaded up and we were on or way.
As for the the cover itself, I have no complaints, pretty easy install, just have to cut little tabs out of the plastic bed rail liner for the clamps. Material does raise slightly in the middle and rear but had no problems running 80 on the interstate for 6 hours. Keeps the bed and whatever is in it dry during rain.
And while it can be cut open if a thief is motivated enough, it is somewhat lockable seeing as how you have to have the tailgate open in order to fold it, (if you have a lockable tailgate that is).

After doing a lot of research I purchased the Tri-fold top from Lund. It seemed like the best bang for the buck although I was a little sceptical that it would actually fit my 09 F150 (new design).
I received the top, opened the box and had it on the truck in less than 5 minutes. Very easy to install and also very easy to take off! I've only used it 1 time with everything folded up and buckled down and it performed as advertised.
Great top for the price!
